Reading

So I gave Mr. Calos a sheet of paper for the research that i am doing.
The reading explained what Lipitor is and its affects.
"Lipitor (atorvastain) is a member of the drug class known as statins, used or lowering blood cholesterol in human body. It inhibits HMG-CoA reductase, an enzyme found in liver tissue that plays a key role in production of cholesterol in the body. " 
It continued on to explain the drug (or the substance)'s negative effects on the environment or the species, which I have explained in my pervious blog posts that it can break down reproductive system in other species.
The reading continues to explain that our goal is to find out how much Lipitor exists in the environment (waste water system and stuff)
And in order to do that, UV-Visible Spectroscopy is what we use since each distint substance has its own unique graph once put into such machine.

In fact, last year in AP biology, we did a very similar, I do not exactly remember, experiment relating to UV-Visible Spectroscopy. We put a solution into little square container and close the cap of the machine to have light shine through it, then we see the absorption on loggor pro. So getting used to using this machine is actually a review for me.

  2. This is a very interesting are of research. I like the paraphrasing in your posts, it makes the readings short, interesting and insightful. Do you know if there has been other researchers who have achieved positive results on this field?.

    1. For now, according to my mentor, this is a very new area we are stepping into since not a lot of researchers have look at drags after they have been digested and put into waster. Thus, you will see that in my research there are a lot of uncertainties since there is no prior example to tell us what to do.
