3/2 Titration Lesson

So today MaryAnn decided that we would do a simple titration between a strong acid HCL and a strong base NAOH. She thinks I should get use to titration system before we go into Ca+ titration. It was a really good review for me from AP biology. We set up the titration system and add drops of NAOH in to the HCL until the color changes from clear to yellow. After repeating the experiment, we finally got the results that we were supposed to get. Thus, we then did the same titration with Lipitor. Strangely, Lipitor exhibits the qualities of both a strong acid and a weak acid. Thus, my task for spring break is to find out the structure of Lipitor to see what groups are in there to cause this. Puzzle Puzzle!

  1. Glad that your EWS science skills are proving useful in your internship.

Titration is a useful skill for many chem labs.

Eager for the answer to your puzzle!

  2. Hi, did you find out the structure??:0
You sound like you are enjoying your internship a lot and getting confortable with your internship place!!!
Last time, I read Kelsie's blog and she mentioned that she did many pipet using lab like you do and became professional to pipet too!! I feel you two are doing actual cool science work!
I like the pictures that you put on the blogs:)
Question: Does what you are doing is more like Bio as you said that you used the knowledge from AP Bio or more chemistry?? For me, since you are using many chemicals, it seems more like chemistry!!
Anyway, I like how you are committed to your internship and enjoy complicated work that your mentor asks you to do!!
I wish I can talk to you to know more about your project!!
